ASTM B516 specification covers UNS N06600, N06601 Welded Inconel Tube used in different corrosive environment. The Fusion welding process is used for making large diameter pipe. The submerged arc welding(SAW) process or a combination of gas shield tack welding, with downstream submerged arc welding is used to manufacture large diameter pipes. The submerged arc welding process is an electric fusion welding method performed with concealed arc. The best characteristc of the SAW is its high deposition rate, which gives high current strength which is applied combined with favorable heat balance giving accurate dimension to the tube. Tubes having other dimensions may be furnished provided such tubing complies with all other requirements of this specification.
