A solution anneal of Hastelloy C276 Angle at 2165 Degree F (1185 Degree C) followed by water quenching will restore optimum mechanical properties after hot work, and will give optimum corrosion resistance. Hastelloy C276 C-Channel is the most universally corrosion resistant material commonly available today. Hastelloy C276 Chain has superb resistance to corrosion by seawater, also to pitting (due to its high molybdenum content), stress – corrosion cracking and to oxidizing atmospheres. Hastelloy C276 I-Beam cannot be hardened by heat treatment although it can be hardened by cold working. Hastelloy C276 T-Beam is certified for oil and gas service, which is further also approved as a material for construction by the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. Hastelloy C276 H-Beam may be welded by the gas – metal – arc, gas – tungsten – arc and shielded – metal – arc processes. Alloy C276 Angle may normally be used in the as – welded condition, but a post – weld anneal will result in optimum corrosion resistance. Alloy C276 Chain resists the formation of grain-boundary precipitates in the weld heat – affected zone. This makes Alloy C276 C-Channel suitable for most chemical process applications in the as-welded condition. Because of its adaptability, Alloy C276 I-Beam can be used where “upset” conditions are likely to occur or in multipurpose plants.
