If subsequently used in service at room temperature while some slight precipitation of chromium carbide can occur in Stainless Steel 321 Round Bars over an extended period this will generally have little effect on corrosion resistance. Stainless Steel 321H Round Bars provides excellent resistance to oxidation and corrosion and possesses good creep strength. Stainless Steel 321 Square Bars performs well in the 425 – 900 °C range, and particularly where subsequent aqueous corrosive conditions are present. Stainless Steel 321H Flat Bars is utilized in chloride or fluoride free caustic solutions at moderate temperatures. Stainless Steel 321 Threaded Bars was developed for use in the chromium carbide precipitation range of 1800 – 1500°F (427 – 816°C) where un-stabilized alloys such as 304 are subject to intergranular attack. Pickling of the previously brushed seam area in Stainless Steel 321H Hollow Bars is carried out by dipping and spraying, however, often pickling pastes or solutions are used, where after pickling a careful flushing with water has to be done.
